The rules and conditions for conducting periodic medical examinations for persons employed at night work have been established

The rules and conditions for conducting periodic medical examinations for persons employed at night work have been established. According to the order of the Minister of Health, a person working in night shift is a person who works regularly for at least 3 hours from 10:00 PM to 06:00 AM, or an employee who spends at least ¼ of the total working hours from 10:00 PM until 06:00 AM.

At the request of the employee, the employer will be obliged to check the health status of the employee at his own expense, both before the night job, as well as once a year during the work process, or if necessary, once every 6 months on the recommendation of a specialist.

The purpose of the preliminary (professional) medical examination at the request of the employee is to determine the health status of the person for the night work or to identify diseases or pathological conditions in which contact with a given occupational factor is contraindicated to determine the potential risks and adverse effects on night health. During the pre-medical examination at the request of the employee, a full description of the medical status of the persons to be employed is required, so that during the periodic medical examination, these initial data are taken into account for early detection of occupational pathology.

Periodic medical examination provides dynamic monitoring of the health status of workers in adverse and unfavorable working conditions and other professions, detection and prevention of the initial symptoms of occupational and general diseases, which are indications against continuing to work in these conditions, accident prevention. The main tasks of the periodic medical examination are to detect the first signs of occupational disease related to the existing production factor and night work, and to carry out medical-prophylactic measures to restore the disturbed functions of the sick body and the ability to work.

It is noteworthy that the regulation applies to both public services and the private sector.
